...thinking out loud

...the local weatherman has forewarned us cringing locals of an Alberta Clipper looming upon the threshold of our upcoming weekend. Rain turning to snow by sunrise. One to four inches expected by tip-off of tomorrow's varsity game.

All dapper in his recently dry-cleaned, charcoal three piece, (most likely a sale item from The Burlington Coat Factory,) the smug expression on his otherwise unblemished mugshot led me to believe that he was relishing the moment, five minutes of negative airtime.

Quite the creeper, that fella...

Just a few thoughts and updates as the evening precipitation begins freezing to the window pane...damn that weatherguy!

The younger of Stephen King's offspring, and bestselling novelist, Joe Hill has published several photos of his private den, the spot where he's created such memorable chart-busters as, "Heart-Shaped Box," and one of my all-time faves, "Horns," on his personal blog. Check it out below...

...a special message to the contest winners from my autumn blog tour, I've been informed that your books have been sent. Enjoy ;)

...the other day, fellow blogger/writer, and dear friend, Roland Yeomans, from "Writing in the Crosshairs," has been honored with a book review of perhaps his most famous creation, "Victor Standish," from Braine at Talk Supe. It's a must read...

...and for those who've yet to experience Roland's work, my advice is to remove one's self from under that boulder, and whisk on over promptly!

...from the home front, I've recently been informed that one of the young men on my youth basketball team has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. While tests have revealed its leering presence as merely a benign menace at this point, it's nonetheless a troubling development for a single mother struggling to make ends meet, and her energetic 5th grade son, Michael. One encouraging thought, he's been cleared to play out the remainder of the season, and will be in my starting lineup for this weekend's games. After all, that boy's a rebounding machine. And as I write this post, the community is coming together...

...if all goes as planned, my next post will be accompanied with an excerpt from "The Fall," a novella that I hope to complete prior to the Mayan's Doomsday Revelation. Confounding deadlines...

In the meantime, hop on over to Amazon, where "South of Charm" is now available on Kindle for $2.99

...the plummeting rain in the driveway has since turned white...damn that cursed weatherguy!

Thanks for reading ;)

El

Elliot, let me know the cyber address the community arranges for the fund to help the young baseball hero with the brain tumor. Hopefully, it will accept PayPal.

Thank you for spotlighting THE LEGEND OF VICTOR STANDISH with an image of the cover yet. Alice blows you a kiss.

I have already purchased SOUTH OF CHARM and now with the lowered price plan on giving a copy or two as a gift to friends.

The weather here, too, is frigid. I'm in my Indiana Jones hat

(gift from a girlfriend since returned to New Zealand - we had matching hats and leather jackets and would attend music concerts and movies decked out in them - ah, memories.)

and my leather LORD OF THE RINGS jacket. (another gift from Veronica.)

I am still at work, running the frigid roads delievering rare blood to rural hospitals.

Thank you for visiting my blog and for this signpost to THE LEGEND OF VICTOR STANDISH.

Old friend, 2012 is OUR year. I can feel it, Roland (It better be if the Mayans were right -- it's our last shot! LOL.)

I just spotlighted this excellent post of yours on my blog. I hope it brings new sales of your book. Tomorrow on my blog, Victor and Alice are back in an all new adventure :

New Year's Eve at the mysterious home of a Romanian crime lord out for revenge. (There really is an ancient Romanian tradition of wearing masks at New Year's Eve.) Brrrr. The shivers will not be from the weather. LOL.

Your Author world is coming right along El. Congratulations. I really hope to read an excerpt from Fall before the fated Mayan end :)

Have a good weekend. Don't slip in the snow.

We used to have a great weatherman on the BBC who loved giving out bad weather warnings. He'd practically jump up and down, wide grin, bright eyes. When it was good weather, he'd deliver the news like he'd just flushed a winning lottery ticket down the toilet.

A strange breed, weathermen!

We have a weather woman who is positively gleeful when announcing tornados. I once watched her send a reporter to a destination where an E-4 was looming. And then went crazy on air when he had to find a safe place. She wanted him to film it.

Hope you don't get snowed in. Or maybe you want to be.

Prayers are being dispatched to Michael forthwith.

I hope Michael will be okay!

Can't wait to read the excerpt from The Fall. :)

I hope you have a great weekend! And that the snow doesn't get too bad . . .

I hope that Michael will get the help he needs.

Enjoy the cold as an excuse to drink a lot of hot chocolate. :-D

...the snow wasn't as bad as the evil scheming weatherman had predicted.

Hey Roland, glad you enjoyed the spotlight. Victor deserves nothing less ;)

Hey Robert, not sure about energy, but plenty of freezing temps!

Hey Donna, The Fall is my oldest son's favorite story of mine. He's been nagging me for years to get it out there...I 'spose it's time.

Hey Vanisha, thanks so much for dropping by...I envy your weather down there!

Hey Annalisa, I couldn't agree more...strange breed, indeed ;)

Hey Anne, thanks so much for your thoughts on Michael. He's doing fine thus far, but missed a layup that would'a given us the win yesterday... ahhhhh!

Hey Braine, very kind of you, thanks so much!

Hey Carolyn, I do believe it's vacation time. Normally I recline in the passenger seat with a book, while instructing my wife to start driving south until we find the sun ;)

Hey Eagle, thanks for dropping by. The snow was bearable, the cold was not, and Michael's no worse for the wear. He's a lucky kid.

Hey Misha, spent last evening in the basement next to the fireplace, watching Netflix on the surround sound with my wife and teenage son. Finally a taste of warmth!

Happy Weekend!

El

Brrr sounds like you're in for a cold one! I wonder if you find bad weather makes for good writing? I do - thinks it's because they're are far fewer distractions when it's unpleasant outside.

So this is Alberta's fault, eh?

Prayers going out for that boy and his mum. I'm glad to know he lives in such a supportive community and has a wonderful b-ball coach.

I'm well past the half way mark of South of Charm, and reviews will be forthcoming after I finish (slow reader, remember). For now I'll just say - it's kind of...amazing.

I'm so sorry to hear about Michael on your basketball team. He's lucky to have you looking out for him. My prayers go out to him and his family.

On another note, best of luck with South of Charm! Great title by the way! Julie

Hey Patsy, frozen temps are indeed the perfect ingredient for a healthy muse...but nothing else ;)

Hey Nicki, you're a sweetheart, glad you're enjoying it ;)

Hey Empty Nest Insider, Michael's doing well, just your typical hyperactive eleven year old. Thanks for the compliment. South of Charm was the third title for the story...and the keeper ;)

I've been longing to read your book, Elliot, and I hate to say that I've been hoping the price would come down. Like so many on a tight budget... So I'm heading over to buy it now for my kindle.
